Inside the U.S.A
IMG insurance plans connect with the United Healthcare PPO Network by allowing policyholders to access a vast network of healthcare providers offering pre-negotiated rates for eligible services. When seeking care, simply present your IMG insurance ID card and mention the United Healthcare PPO Network to ensure providers recognize your coverage.
Most plans, except fixed coverage plans, from IMG participate in the United Healthcare PPO Network.
When you contact a medical provider or present your ID card, what should you say?
"My insurance uses the United Healthcare PPO Network and I found your name on the network search directory."
DO NOT SAY:
"I have IMG Insurance" or "I use IMG Network" or "I have Patriot America Lite insurance"
Providers WILL NOT recognize this language, and your insurance may not be accepted.
Make sure to present your insurance ID card, and NOT other documents such as business card or certificate wording.
When you go in the network, there will be network negotiated fees for eligible expenses.
You can also go out of the network, but there would be no network negotiated fees. Direct billing depends on the provider.

Using in-network providers means lower costs because they offer pre-negotiated rates for eligible services. When you go in the network, there will be network negotiated fees for eligible expenses.
Out-of-network providers don’t have these agreements, so you’ll pay higher fees. Direct billing may also vary with out-of-network providers, potentially requiring you to pay upfront and file a claim for reimbursement later.

Prescription Drugs
There is no PPO network for prescription drugs. Therefore, you do not receive an Rx card with the BIN #, PCN #, RxGRP # etc. that pharmacies such as CVS, WalGreens, Rite Aid, Walmart, Costco etc. are looking for.
You will have to first pay out of your pocket, and then file for reimbursement of eligible expenses as an out-of-network benefit.
Your insurance ID card includes a Universal Rx discount card that you can use to reduce the upfront price that you would need to get reimbursement for.
Outside the U.S.A.
IMG has a network all over the world. Outside the USA, some of the providers are contracted with IMG for direct billing, but there is no network negotiated fee arrangement. You are free to visit any hospital, doctor or provider, and you may have to first pay and then get reimbursed from the insurance company by filing a claim form.
International Provider Access (IPA)
The doctor's office or local hospital has a choice to be paid by the patient or by the insurance company. However, for larger eligible expenses like hospitalization/surgery etc., the insurance company can plan for direct payment to the provider.
